Tomatock is a free online pomodoro timer and focus timer with a task list and local reports. Press Start, work on one thing until the alert, then take a short break. No account, no ads and no third-party requests: your data stays in this browser.

    What is Tomatock?

Tomatock is an online pomodoro timer for studying, writing, coding and any work that needs your full attention. It alternates focus sessions with short breaks, keeps a simple task list next to the clock, and shows how much you focused today, this week and this month.

Everything runs in the page you are looking at. There is no account to create, nothing to install and no third-party scripts watching what you do. The alert is designed to stay on time even when the tab is in the background, and your settings, tasks and history are saved in your browser, so the timer is ready the next time you open it.

    What is the Pomodoro Technique®?

The Pomodoro Technique® is a time-management method created by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. You pick one task, work on it for a fixed session, traditionally 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break. After every fourth session you take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes. The name is Italian for tomato, after the kitchen timer Cirillo used, which is why some people search for a tomato timer.

How to use this focus timer

    1. Add the tasks you want to work on today and estimate how many sessions each one needs.
    2. Select the task you are starting with so finished sessions are counted against it.
    3. Press Start (or the Space bar) and work on that one task until the alert sounds.
    4. Take the 5-minute break. Stand up, drink water, look away from the screen.
    5. Repeat. After four focus sessions Tomatock switches to a long break automatically.
    6. Check the report at the end of the day to see your focus minutes, sessions and streak.

Want different times? Open Settings to change the focus, short break and long break lengths (1 to 180 minutes) and how many sessions come before a long break (1 to 12). Allow notifications if you want a system alert when a session ends while you are in another tab.

    Features

    • Focus, short break and long break modes with fully adjustable lengths.
    • Alerts scheduled ahead of time and a background worker, designed to keep the alert on time even in a background tab.
    • Countdown in the browser tab title, so you can see the time from any other tab.
    • Task list with session estimates, a current task and an estimated finish time.
    • Daily, weekly and monthly reports with a streak and a breakdown by task, no login required.
    • Free CSV and JSON export of your history.
    • Auto-start options for breaks and focus sessions.
    • Three alert sounds (bell, chime and digital beep), volume control, up to ten repeats and an optional ticking sound.
    • Light and dark themes, a distraction-free focus view, full screen and a keep-screen-on option where the browser supports it.
    • Keyboard shortcuts: Space to start or pause, R to reset, S to skip, 1–3 to switch modes, F for full screen, ? for help.
    • Open it in several tabs: tasks, settings and the running timer stay in step, and only one tab plays the alert.
    • If you refresh or close the page by accident, the timer picks up where it left off.
    • Available in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Tomatock loads no ads, analytics or remote fonts. The page is small and fast, and it works the same on a laptop, a tablet or a phone next to your keyboard.

    Frequently asked questions

Is Tomatock free, and do I need an account?

It is free and there is no account. Every feature, including reports and CSV or JSON export, costs nothing, and there is no premium plan or advertising. Settings, tasks and history are saved in your browser's local storage; nothing is uploaded, which also means there is no sync between devices.

Will the alert play if I switch to another tab?

That is what Tomatock is designed for: the alert is scheduled in advance and a background worker wakes the page when time is up, so it does not depend on the slowed-down timers browsers use for hidden tabs. If the browser still pauses the page, for example when the computer sleeps, Tomatock records the session when you return and shows when it actually ended.

Does it work on my phone when the screen is locked?

Not reliably. Phone browsers usually pause web pages when the screen locks or you switch apps, so the sound may only play when you come back. For phone use, keep Tomatock on screen and turn on the keep-screen-on option if your browser offers it.

Can I change the 25-minute focus time?

Yes. In Settings you can set focus, short break and long break lengths from 1 to 180 minutes, and choose after how many focus sessions the long break comes. Popular choices are 25/5, 50/10 and 90/20.

Can I use it full screen?

Yes. Press F or the full-screen button to fill the screen with the timer. Where the browser supports it, you can also turn on the keep-screen-on option in Settings so the display does not dim while a session is running.

What sounds does the timer have? Is there music?

There are three alert sounds, bell, chime and digital beep, with a volume control and up to ten repeats, plus an optional ticking sound during focus sessions while the tab is visible. You can also turn the alert sound off. There is no background music.

Can I keep Tomatock open in several tabs?

Yes. Tabs of the site share your tasks, settings and the running timer: add a task or start the timer in one tab and the others show it. Only one tab plays the alert, and if you close it, another open tab takes over.

What happens to my data if I clear my browser?

Clearing site data or browsing history for this site deletes your tasks and history, and some browsers remove data from sites you have not visited for a while. Export your history as CSV or JSON from the report if you want a copy.
