Tomatock is a free online pomodoro timer and focus timer with a task list and local reports. It runs entirely in the browser with no account, no ads and no third-party requests, and it is designed to keep alerts on time even in a background tab.
Who makes Tomatock
Tomatock is an independent project built and maintained by a small team that makes simple, privacy-friendly browser tools.
The timer is free to use. There is no premium plan, no advertising and nothing to sign up for. The guides on this site are written and kept up to date by the same team; each one shows when it was last reviewed.
What we promise, and how you can check it
- No account: there is no sign-up or login anywhere on the site.
- No ads and no trackers: the pages load no ad networks, analytics scripts or remote fonts. The Network tab of your browser's developer tools shows that every request goes to tomatock.com.
- Your data stays on your device: settings, tasks and history are kept in your browser's local storage and are never uploaded. You can export them as CSV or JSON, or delete them, from the report.
- Honest limits: when something cannot work reliably in a web page, such as an alarm on a locked phone, we say so on the page instead of promising it.
Visits are counted only from our own server logs, without cookies or third-party tools. The privacy policy explains exactly what is recorded and for how long.
How the timer keeps time
Browsers slow down tabs you are not looking at, so a timer that simply counts seconds drifts or rings late. Tomatock is built differently:
- The time left is always calculated from the moment the phase should end, so the clock is right as soon as you look at it again.
- The alert sound is scheduled in advance, and a background worker wakes the page when time is up.
- If the page was paused or closed when a session ended, the session is recorded when you come back, with the time it actually ended.
- When the site is open in several tabs, they share one timer and only one of them plays the alert.
What Tomatock does not do
- It does not sync between devices or browsers, because nothing is stored on a server.
- It cannot promise an alarm while a phone is locked or a computer is asleep, because browsers pause the page.
- It has no background music, soundscapes or visual themes beyond light and dark mode.
- It is a productivity tool, not a medical or therapeutic one.
